FONT ANALYSIS

In my font analysis I will show the choices, the pros/cons and sizes of each font, this is to show why it would be suitable for my genre, target audience and what fonts looks better on my digipack and poster.

Firstly, on Jhene Aiko’s album Sail Out has two fonts on her Cover, white brandly hand in Italic writing in her name, and light blue calibri font in her album name, I believe that she used these colours to match the background of her album cover  as it is all about boats and oceans. I like the font of her album name because it is simple and clearly reveals the album’s name. The letters are highly spaced apart as each letter remarkably shows the artist puts everything sweats into her music and lyrics.  I wouldn’t use the brandly hand italic on my album cover because it would confuse the audience as some audience will find it hard to read. However it does make us believe that there’s more to the music compared to the simplistic font for the album title.

I have decided on a suitable font for my album cover and poster, I have done some researches similar artist in the R&B genre and here it is….

Looking at Rihanna’s album “Take a bow” font will relate to my target audience as aimed for teenagers. The font they chose for album and the album title is plain and simple and it is in nicely organised, I am willing to use this for my cover and poster because it relates to how my artist feels.

I have also looked at Rita Ora’s album cover “ORA” of her face because the artist is popular amongst in the r&b, pop, dance-pop, pop rock and soul culture. On the top right of the cover the name is over the image, the colour red is symbolized of high energy, romance but mainly seen as danger and warning. I feel this font appeals to music target audience as it stands out on music posters and album cover and relates well with the vision of R&B concept.

More examples...

I have finally done researching what font style i should go, so now i have an idea of what font style i should use for my album cover nd poster. I really like Rihanna's album cover  font "Take a bow" this is becasue it is very neat and and spaced out each letter, this is suitable for the character i am going for, which is unique to other artists.
